Die Plateaulehme Süd-Luxemburgs und ihre Bedeutung für die morphogenetische Interpretation der Landschaft Levelt Th. W. M. 1965
W. M. Levelt examines the loam covers found on the plateaus of southern Luxembourg, focusing on their origin, composition, and spatial distribution. The work, comprising approximately 215 pages with maps and illustrations, is considered a significant contribution to Luxembourg’s Quaternary geology and geomorphology. Levelt argues that the plateau loams are not solely the product of local bedrock weathering but also result from reworking processes and aeolian (wind-blown) deposition. By analyzing soil and sediment characteristics, he reconstructs several stages of landscape development during the Quaternary period. The loam deposits therefore serve as valuable records of past climatic and environmental conditions.
